Thanks for your reply.

I forgot to mention that I am using vnc to connect.
Last night I discovered that if I use console to login, I can logout and
see the kdm back without problem.
So it should be the problem of Xvnc? If yes, then it is OT in this
mailing list now, but any clue or suggestion?
I am using the following to start my Xvnc:

Su -m nobody -c "/usr/X11R6/bin/Xvnc :1 -query localhost -geometry
800x600 -depth 32 -rfbport 5900"

By the way, when configuring the kdm + Xvnc, I was unable to connect and
spent 2-3 hours finding out what was the problem. And finally got the
following in google search:

cat /etc/sysctl.conf
net.inet6.ip6.v6only=0

somebody said it is a known issue in freebsd + kdm. Is it documented
anywhere in the Freebsd handbook?

Thanks

No ideas, unfortunately - googling a bit suggests that this sort of
error is
rare to occur, but has happened to others before, both in the context of
kdm
and elsewhere.

I suggest to file a bug against kdm at http://bugs.kde.org - the kdm
developers will probably have a better idea about what's happening
there. If
you do, please report the number your bug gets assigned here so we can
track
it.

Cheers,
