A few people over recent years have worked with Kaffe and RTEMS.  As I
recall, Erik Bruchez even demonstrated a working system a few years ago.
I don't think this was ever merged with Kaffe though. :(

Doing such a port would give you an embedded Java on about 10 CPU
families with a relatively low investment of effort.
