Oh, I just encoumtered the same problem! But first I thought it was just the component reference (R1,C1 ...) that was printed on the top of the SMD-pads, and that is possible to disable, but with a fairly complicated board I don't want to miss that information. It seems like I have to move all the module's reference text aside as well as editing some of the modules.
I've made quite a few boards by now, but have always etched them myself, printing the silkscreen on a paper as a guide for mounting. This is the first time I will hand the making of the PCB over to a manifacturer and suddenly there are a lot of things to think about. Bob: Did you edit all of your SMD modules? Can you share it? I will start editing mine right now, but why should everyone have to do the same job again and again? While editing the modules, it is a good idea to move the module reference text to the side as well so it can be printed on the board, isn't it? --- In [email protected], "mmabshaffer" <bob.shaf...@...> wrote: > > Robert, > > Ok then, that's what I'll do. > Thanks, > Bob > > > > --- In [email protected], Robert <birmingham_spider@> wrote: > > > > Ah, yes, some of the supplied footprints do have that problem, and the > > only fix is indeed to edit the footprint (saving it into your own > > library so it doesn't get replaced with the defective footprint when you > > update kicad).
