FWIW I always use rm and then tab completion. At the appropriate moment,

This is where I consign space users in directory/file names to the 8th
circle of hell, and some of our professionally contentious members jump
in to defend this STUPID and MICRO$SOFTIAN practice.

A) Tab completion normally only works like that for fairly modern versions of bash.

B) Apple is probably more guilty of spaces in filenames than Microsoft.

C) The whole idea of a whole *class* of metacharacters (space, slash, backslash, backquote, semicolon, etc.) is an idiotic *Unix* practice.

The whole idea that quote doesn't shut down the metaness of *every* character except quote is just a stupid design decision from the Bourne shell days propagated 20 years into the future.
