Certainly none of us has ever bought an x86 with manufacturer- supplied hardware which didn't play nice with Linux.
Oh, no, never! Though, I can honestly say I haven't purchased a single piece of hardware in the last five years that didn't work with the system I intended it for. :)
And yes, a good amount of that (until the last 6 months or so) was specifically for Linux systems.
