I do this (the PPP connection charged as regular Verizon cell minutes)
with my RAZR and Bluetooth. The 1xRTT speed leaves something to be
desired, but it's OK if you just want to check email or hop over to
NAO or FIBS.

However, since I'm an AT&T DSL customer, it's great to have WiFi for
free at Barnes & Noble now... and I'm looking forward to the Starbucks
AT&T rollout as well.

Now you're just bragging. I'd love to have an iPhone, but AT&T cell
coverage in the extreme southwest corner of San Diego (almost National
City) isn't the best. Plus, I just bought an iMac in November, so my
gadget budget is dry for a while.
