Is it possible that F8 is trying a resolution or frame rate that the
monitor can not display?
Can you boot F8 in single-user mode and see a display? If so, you
should be able to modify /etc/X11/xorg.conf to ask for something that
your monitor can show.
By the way, is this a flat-panel LCD monitor?
