A Bachelor's with emphasis on subject matter is sufficient.

However, it is not enough to be a generalist in high school. You can very quickly get overrun by smarter students--and the students can see this. The class quickly degenerates from there.

This is generally most obvious in those classes taught by sports coaches. And yet another reason why I believe that sports should be moved away from schools and out to clubs.
