The point was we have a shortage of teachers in math who actually know math.
I'd rather have math Ph.D.s with no credential than a teacher w/ a credential
who didn't know math.
The shortage of teachers isn't because advanced degrees find getting the
certification too onerous.
It has to do with the fact that a technical PhD can often earn in 5 days
what they would earn for a semester teaching.
