So, as I understand what Neil is saying above this topic was brought up at the last KPLUG meeting and its stated goal is to provide a reason for the existence of the San Diego Computer Society (other than a forum for people who love endless meetings and questionable politics) and to foster camaraderie between the member SIG's of the SDCS.

The PC guys are the ones stirring the pot. Why don't they have any suggestions? Whatever their suggestions are surely wouldn't involve Linux. It seems like KPLUG is preparing itself to bend over backwards and commit to a lot of work (whatever we decide to do) to justify someones meager 50 cents per month.

Okay, so do an inventory of the available talent.

KPLUG. I doubt anyone else has ever had to program scan lines to make X work or know exactly which driver to choose to make their hardware work.

Which SIGs have strong interests in programming?

KPLUG. Those other OS's don't even come with a compiler/interpreter out of the box.

Which SIGs are really good with Operating Systems?

KPLUG. Our community wrote their own.

Are there any SIGs that are particularly talented in doing UI design and configuration?

Ah-hah! Hmm...well...Microsoft wrote one UI. Apple wrote the other. I don't know of any real programmers in the other groups but it is possible that someone there may have done so. Whether they are really talented or not I don't know.

Who on the Board of the SDCS is adept at organizing diverse talent and building teams that can attack multiple level problems within a project management framework

We're all hoping that is Josh. He has Indians but we need a chief.
