I've just finished moving my hosting from a linux box at home to Linode. I speak highly of it. I was happy to be able to set up my own distro and do what I wanted to with it. Their pricing even allows adding additional virtual machines, and only paying for the days that you use them. The reasonably priced ones are rather sparse in RAM, but it seems to be working fine for me to host email, web, and such.
