I want to like the CLR but there's so much FUD around it that I'll probably
just hang my hat with the JVM.  I'm glad Android uses JVM and Google didn't do
something like use Mono.

Android is definitely not a JVM.  It is a very different VM, that
happens to be programmed in Java.  The execution model, and format of
the code run on it is very different than JVM.
