Don't do that. In the first place, you should not be using the /root
directory for a working space. In the second place, you downloaded
the _wrong_ file. firefox-1.0.7-1.1.fc3.src.rpm is the source for
compiling firefox, which is a thing you definitely don't want to be
trying. You can undo what you just did by
# rpm -e firefox-1.0.7-1.1.fc3.src.rpm
which will erase the set of source files that your previous action
installed in /usr/src/redhat. You didn't want to know about them.
Also
# rm /root/firefox-1.0.7-1.1.fc3.src.rpm
so that there isn't extra stuff hanging around in the /root directory.
With all due respect to Lan, he pointed you to the wrong place, or at
best a misleading place. Short time out while I try to find the
right place for a Firefox RPM to work with FC3.
Long time out. There doesn't seem to be a right place.
Do you have yum installed? If so, and everything is properly
configured, you should be able to do (as root):
# yum update firefox
and sit back and watch the computer do all the hard stuff. According
to my current yum information, this will install Firefox 1.0.7-1.1.fc3
.
I don't remember whether yum came with FC3 or if I had to install it
separately. Worst case you could come to the next InstallFest for
some hands-on guidance.

After I sent my message and before I got yours, I took another look at the
url and realized there was a scroll down to other files. I downloaded
firefox-1.0.7-1.1.fc3.i386.rpm - the filename Lou suggested and used the
command
rpm -Uvh firefox-1.0.7-1.1.fc3.i386.rpm
It still gave me a warning about V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID, but it
worked. What does the warning mean?
When I launched firefox again it was ver 1.0.7
The reason I used /root as workspace is because that's the directory where
firefox put the file in the download process. Is there a way to have
firefox download to another directory? And which one would be best to use
to execute the rpm command?
