I was told recently the plans call
for three rudder hinges. I've only
got two. Of those two, the one at the top had some
 forward/rear play.

Mike
I would install these bushings and get the play out of the top hinge.

I was told recently the plans call
for three rudder hinges.? I've only
got two.? Of those two, the one at the top had some
 forward/rear play.? I
can "jiggle" it front to back.? I can clearly see the
 bolt, castlenut &
cotter pin and have access to pull the bolt and put another
 one in if
necessary.? Is it necessary?? Elevator hinges are
 pretty tight (that is,
no jiggle to speak of) but the top rudder hinge may need
 attention.? Of
my two rudder hinges, the bottom one has no play at
 all.? And is it
correct that the plans call for three hinges?? My KR
 1? was constructed
from modified KR-1 plans.? It could be the KR-1 only
 had two rudder
 hinges?

Does anybody worry about a little looseness in a rudder
 hinge?? I can put
a straight edge against the rudder & vertical stabilizer
 and see just
what the play amounts to.? I'm guessing just going by
 feel it's about
1/32nd, maybe even 1/16th of an inch.?

I've never given any thought to lubricating the hinges on
 the plane for
some reason.? Would a moly spray or paste be a better
 choice than axle
 grease??
