You are going to get 40 hours for phase 1, and unless I am mistaken, you never get out of phase 2, unless you go back to phase 1 due to major changes to the aircraft.
You should perform all the basic tests in phase 1 during the 40 hours that you will have to fly within the area that you are given by your DAR. This is standard for most experimental aircraft.
