Your situation may be different from mine but since I bought the Grumman and
got it flying I have hardly touched the KR. I'm having too much fun flying the
Grumman and spending all my money on it so can't afford to work on the KR.
After flying the Grumman for a year now, I have decided to part out the KR so I
can make some avionic upgrades on the Grumman. I have already sold the engine
and will be offering other items on KR and Corvair nets in the near future.
This is primarily a financial decision but I think the thing that convinced me
to sell out was Marks Engine failure because I would be pushing the Corvair
engine just as hard as Mark does. Most of my flying in the Grumman is at wide
open throttle and yes it does maneuver real good too. I flew with John Shafer
at the last gathering and he said that the Grumman is the nearest certified
plane to a KR that he had ever flown. I had about the same comments from a RV
pilot a while back. I'll still be on the nets for some time and will be at the
KR gatherings so don't count me out yet.

Subject: KR> Cherokee Uprising

Well guys, I got to go out and fly the Cherokee 180 for several hours for
the first time today. What can I say, I had a blast! 130-140 knots and flew
all over the Salt Lake City valley and down into Utah county (south of SLC ).
I guess when the newness wears off (if it does), I'll get back on track with
the KR2S build. If you've never been to SLC during the winter, the inversion
here is TERRIBLE and today was somewhat clear for here, and it was still
BAD! Just about need IFR or radar to get around...it really sucks. (At least
until you get above it). We cleared the smog at about 7,000 ft and then it
wasn't bad.
Clear Skies!
