All these wonderful spam filters, spybot killers, hacker alarms and antivirus programs won't do a thing to prevent a hijacked web mail account. Web email accounts (like gmail) get hijacked when you disconnect from the session without logging off. It's a common practice, which I am guilty of as well. The session can sometimes be picked up and resumed by someone other than the computer that was logged into the session and the gmail account is now owned by someone else. All it takes is a program to sniff for disconnected sessions. Since gmail is the largest of the web mail hosts, it is the most targeted.
Don't be so quick to pounce on the guy for mismanagement as all the tools I've seen listed in here won't do a thing to prevent it. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM ----- Original Message ----- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ No one should ever have " unprotected Internet". I recommend "ZoneAlarm" and "Avast-Free Antivirus" . They are both free downloads for "non-commercial" users. (home computers). I've been running them for years with no problems. It flagged the SCAM e-mail as soon as I tried to open it and said " you really don't want to do that", "it has a virus". Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and get protection...............
