     Actually, on the Rotec you have your choice - you can mount it so 
the cable moves as you describe, or you can mount it so the cable is 
fixed and only the inner part of the cable moves like the Ellison.  I'm 
in the process of installing one on my Glastar O-320, using the "fixed 
cable" method.

     It looks like the model TBI-34  is sized for the VW engine.
