Originally, the fuel shutoff was at the bottom of the header tank,
above my knees, out of sight, and I had to unbuckle the seatbelt to
reach it. Probably worse than John Denver's. I added an eighteen inch
aluminum valve handle which moves from under the left side of the
panel to the right, in plain sight and easy reach. I still have twenty
gallons of gas in my lap.

My two main concerns when laying out my KR design was rollover and
fire. I witnessed a father and son die years ago at Oshkosh just before
airshow time. A stall / spin on base to final turn for runway 18, right
in front of the crowd, it a T-18 as I recall. They crashed on the
runway, flipped inverted, and burst in to flames. A site not easily
forgotten. My KR has fuel in the outer wing panels only and a
windshield and turtle deck bow for additional rollover support. I hope
the setup is never tested.
