Ah, without auto attendant, me thinks you (they) are out of luck.

The TA824 is severely limited for business applications like this.

You could play with TVA features depending on the customer's needs.

As Brad mentioned-
covering extension- 102's message could say "to reach my assistant
press 0" and have cov ext be 103.

You could set up a TVA extension group, with both 102 and 103 sharing
one mailbox. The mw lamp will light on both. The 824 doesn't have
groups, but I know you can set it up in a answering machine type mode
where multiple extensions share one box.

Also, message copy. You could have 102's messages copied or moved to
103, and/or have 103's messages copied to 102.
