Okay, so if I'm understanding this correctly, the issue is not the phone system programming, it's the software I'm using to program it?

You may want to run windows 7 in XP mode and it will probably work then for you. I keep a win98 laptop, an old DELL 7000. It works, batteries are cheap, easy to have around.
