LEGISLATIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
A FIRST AT NOW CHAPTER EVENT
Legislative Proposal on Child Support will be Unveiled
The San Fernando Valley/Northeast Los Angeles Chapter of the
National Organization for Women (SFV/NELA NOW) will conduct its annual
meeting/election meeting and annual holiday party on December 11, 2004 at
18847 Martha Street, Tarzana from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. The event is
free, open to the public and potluck, but featuring "water smoked turkey."
For the first time, SFV/NELA NOW will make special legislative
achievement awards to current and former area legislators. The awards
include recognition for First Woman to represent the Valley in Congress and
in the California Legislature; and recognition for anti-rape and
anti-sexual harassment legislation.
SFV/NELA NOW will also unveil a proposal to amend the Family Code
to criminalize aiding and abetting child support evasion and to provide a
private cause of action against people who assist non-custodial,
non-supporting parents in hiding income or assets.
