Justice For Janitors Day Rally in Century City (Corner of Santa Monica and Century Park East) Friday, June 15, 2007 @ Noon Justice For Janitors Day Behind the Scenes! For 17 years, June 15 has been observed as Justice for Janitors Day following a successful strike in 1990 by mainly immigrant cleaners in Century City. Striking janitors, members of SEIU, were holding a peaceful protest against their employer when they were savagely beaten by police. The incident provoked a public outcry in the U.S. and abroad. Workers won the strike and secured better wages and benefits. Continuing the Struggle for Justice This June 15th, thousands of janitors in LA will march to bring justice to janitors who continue to struggle with poverty wages and no benefits cleaning entertainment industry studios including Fox Studios and Raleigh Studios and will launch their 2008 Contract Fight.
