Here in Utah, where we just celebrated "Pioneer Day" the parade reminded us that many of the pioneers who settled this State traveled across the desert with handcarts -- not even horses or oxen -- to carry their belongings. And to think that they arrived here in July, the hottest time of the year - it really makes you wonder how they survived walking across the desert, especially with the lack of water, and how long it took them.
