that is true, but how often do you see 2.5 million people leaving all
at the same time from one area of the u.s.?  it is not likely.

if you have a house near an ocean which is also near a hot spot for
hurricanes that is only able to stand if a man made levy holds up, and
the levy might be about 50 or 60 years old and badly in need of being
replaced, you should consider yourself at a much higher risk than even
the most tornadoe/hurricane prone areas.

the u.s. has a lot of places in danger of some natural disaster or
another, but they ususally don't build their biggest cities around
them.  i can't say that as a guarantee because look at california with
all its wonders.  why california drained a river just to run water to
L.A., or why during all the mudslides did all those people build houses
on muddy hilltops, and why did they build houses on the faults?  i'm
willing to bet the u.k. might make more of an effort for the safety of
their citizens with laws and rules protecting them from builders who
build that way.  it would be nice if someone here would care enough to
do that.
