Hello Daphne my friend, and all spiders, re bone versus hard wood - I have been told by John Cooper (bobbin maker at your lace day Daphne) that the only bones that you can use are the leg bones so that might make it a little bit harder to get hold of and they take a great deal of preparation prior to turning. My own choice would be bone every time but the cost is usually the deciding factor.
