I too was taught to pin as I went and I dont have the experience or the expertise to do it any other way. I didn't no anyone could do it the way David does and I suppose when you see the speed he works with those amazing large pieces it does make sense, but for me too it has to be slow and steady

I pin in between pairs as I go, partly because that was how I was taught to do it, and partly because I miss pinholes if I try to work down the line and then put in the pins! I find it stresses me to work multiple CTTTs and then pin them all. Above all lacemaking has to be enjoyable, so I stick with the slower but (for me) more enjoyable rhythm of working.
