How do you secure your pricking to the pillow?

If the pricking card is a square or rectangle, then one pin in each corner - flat headed and pushed right in with a pin pusher. I only use small prickings on a cookie pillow so that they will stay flat, anything too large to do that I use my block pillow. For circular pieces, I tend to use about five pins spaced around the outer edge, and move the cover cloth to keep the ones likely to be in the way covered.
