I asked about the white as some makes seem to becoming difficult or very expensive to obtain, so I was asking if there are others, readily available that have the same feel in working and hold their shape well. I haven't seen the 36/3 so will check out Brenda's book to see how close to size it is. Really I like to understand what threads are out there as in the past I got stuck having problems getting hold of one I needed and didn't know anything about threads for lace apart from those I had been encouraged to buy during the lessons, most of which were crochet cotton at the time. Because of that I made errors and have threads sitting around never used yet (but not to say I wont use them in the future). The colours I was about to buy were the venus 70 as they are useful for the little christmas projects I make and other little bits and pieces which dont take so much thread as bigger projects but I need to choose some more appropriate colours as I am currently left with masses of burgundy, some browns and greens but do like the idea of using up embroidery threads in my boxes as well as I know I have some suitable colours amongst them. I was putting together a list of things I need to stock up on again and thought I would ask more about the white threads before I order.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Sue
What I don't quite understand is, as you already have not one but two makes
of thread that you like, almost identical in size, and (assuming the Brok
you have is 36/2) the only real difference between them is that one is an S
twist, the other Z, why are you looking for another.

The only one I might suggest you try is the 'other' Brok 36. So, if you do
have 36/2, get the 36/3 and vice versa. The same wpc range but it will
feel and behave a little differently because of the different construction -
whichever way round.

If you want thicker or finer, you can find those in the same ranges of
threads, but there's nothing wrong with finding a make of thread that you like
and sticking to it.

For colour it's a whole different ball game because then you have the
colour itself, and the extensiveness of the range of colours in any make, to take
into consideration, so even if you were asking about the ivory, cream and
ecru shades I could understand it better, but if you want white - why not
stick to what you like and have.
