Dear Clay & other interested readers,

I have tried a number of systems, and for me the least offensive (yes... it's a matter of lessor of all evils...) was the "Mag Eyes". I suspect this is the same as the device that David recommended in Australia. Rather than having a tight band that fits around the entire head, this slips onto one's head much like a large pair of glasses. The device comes with two different strengths of power, and when I bought mine, I liked it and then bought two additional lenses of higher powers... assuming that as I aged, my need for more power would increase, and also assuming that (a) they wouldn't be available when I wanted them, or (b) my age-induced limited spending wouldn't be able to afford them.

What you're describing certainly sounds like mine. But mine is definitely called Magvu. I do use it all the time and find some of the benefits to be: I can wear it over my regular reading glasses; I can easily watch TV over the top of it; I personally do not feel its presence on my forehead; while I use the 2 times lens, it does come with a 4 times lens as well for those pesky sewings in fine threads etc.; mine is now about 5 years old and its cardboard box has travelled the world and stood up to it well. In fact its off to New Zealand with me tomorrow.

I use it in conjunction with a small flexible halogen lamp (about AUS$15 in BigW etc)
