I am interested in corresponding with gentle spiders who have used Yaspé silk
thread. This thread has many, many slubs and these slubs are quite large and
long. I am about to start a Christine Mirecki scarf pattern. Curious spiders
can see the pattern at her website http://www.mirecki.net/ . Then go to
Patterns, Scarfs and Shawls and the name of the pattern is “Schal Lena”.

First question: I wound a few test bobbins by hand and with lots of thread.
When I started a test strip and did some tensioning, the top thread got buried
in the bulk of thread beneath it. I eventually had to go digging with a pin
(yes, yes, I know that is a no-no!) to try to get it out and you can guess
what happened! Would it be better to wind small amounts at a time knowing
that, with all the colour changes and slubs, a join would not be noticeable?

Second question: I could see **immediately** that, as I suspected, the usual
hitch is not going to work. I tried hair clips but the thought of using hair
clips on some 40 pairs of bobbins is...... Someone suggested mini elastics.
What worked for you with this thread?

Third question: If you have made a scarf with this thread what do you suggest
as an ideal width? It will be worn as a fashion accessory, not for warmth or
with a coat. How does the draping with a scarf made with this thread compare
to the draping with, for example, a cotton or fine silk scarf?

Any suggestions gratefully received.
