I do not agree. Programming a complex system like a scripting
language is hard enough without encrypting it first, and I definitely
do not want to have to relearn the encoding for an obscure corner of
the implementation each time I revisit it.
Thinking time is always (for me) much more than coding time. If I
increase coding time by 10% but decrease thinking time by 10% by the
same action, I reduce total time spent and I'm more likely to get some
help from someone who understands some subtle aspect that I'm less of
an expert in (e.g. deep innards of cross-platform pipe handling or the
correct way to hold the dagger when sacrificing a goat on the black
altar of Unix ptys...) Making their life easier makes my life easier.
