Unfortunately, I don't have a network that will support an rlogin at the
moment, but after reading
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6179960
my guess is that it is not the problem for two reasons. First, I don't have
the same chipset (it's a satellite pro m15). Second, i know that the keyboard
is still functional even though I can't see anything. Here's how I know. To
restart the laptop, I depress the power button for about 3 seconds. If I hold
it longer, the power just cuts off abruptly, but for less than three seconds or
so, then solaris pops up a window giving me a choice to reboot or shutdown.
Since shutdown is highlighted by default, pressing enter sets it going. So
even when the screen is off, i can still do this, hold power for three seconds,
and then I hit enter. I can tell that hitting enter has an effect because the
hard drive light starts flashing as soon as i hit it.
