Almost one year ago I started to get WiFi working on my boxen. Here is the sad wrap-up: - zyd was said to be supported, I read the respective page and bought a 3COM10075 - compilation as described on that page failed - needed to download close to 800MB of onnv-gate - compilation went through, but WPA was not supported - a lost cause, since WEP is of no use
- rum was the latest addition, supports WPA (so says the rum page) - so I bought one, read the rum-page (very easy to setup, so it looks) - compiled, and it went through - alas, some arcane sequence needed to be added to driver_alisases, I did that - alas, it still didn't work. it doesn't, by default, with nwam, so I had to disable nwam. - it still would not work, and I was told that WPA would be supported soon - snv_105 would support the WAP access points, so I upgraded - it would not work, but crash the system [By now both USB-dongles connect on OpenBSD, using WPA, perfectly well, out of the box. There essentially one person, a volunteer, has been doing the work] A sad state of affairs, as far as my 2 sen carry me. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
