Default install of Solaris does not set PATH to see sbin or non-core  
bin directories.  You also need to be root by using the 'su' command  
as network control needs access to the device.  You also need to put  
the plumb argument at the end of the ifconfig command, eg: ifconfig  
ath0 plumb.  You should also check dmesg for the device by using  
'grep' to find "ath".
