I've looked under Vista but the only log that seems relavant (hardware log) is 
completely empty. That makes me suspicious it is not actually logging anything 
to that log. I'm no expert on windows, so I've no idea how to check if things 
are being logged. Other logs are getting plenty of entries. 

Perhaps someone with knowledge of the disk driver might have some comments.
