Thanks to everyone. I tried again using the most recent driver files from the HP web site and was successful. The only difference was that instead of extracting all of the files into the ndis-1.1/i386 directory I only extracted the bcmwl5.inf and bcwl5.sys files. I don't know if that matters, but it is the only thing that I did differently. Anyhow- I am happy.
