The long and short of this is that many physicians are requiring patient
interviews prior to accepting non-emergency new patients. Unfortunately for
those employed by HMO's, they do not have the luxury of picking their

I thought there was something like that, but didn't realize it was that
complicated. BTW, another effect of the HMO thing is that patients no longer
can pick their doctors, and around here neither doctor nor patient has freedom
to select the hospital to be used. Our enterologists are especially upset by
the last, since many of them now have to travel between half a dozen or more
hospitals in order to perform the procedures their patients need.
