My name is John Mulholland. I found this list on google as I was developing my own home teaching management program. I am going back to school at USU to work on a PhD in Computer Science and am looking for a thesis topic preferably something to do with data visualization if anybody has any ideas. I am very interested in working on a good family history project. I would love to be able to read in more detail any information about where the church wants to go on this family history project so I can be more fully involved and see what research needs to be done.
Here's an idea that I think has had some work done on it, but if you could do it via web delivery that would be even better. Imagine a Google Maps-style interface to browsing a pedigree. Just drag to navigate the tree. Be able to zoom out/in to get a clearer picture or better context of a branch of the tree.
I'm pretty sure something like this has been done in a desktop app, but if you could deliver it via the web, it would make a great navigational interface to the API that we hope the church will make available to browsing its pedigree data ;-).
