It might be better to create several kernel-* directories (e.g.,
kernel-2.2.16-LRP and kernel-2.0.36-LRP right now, and later a
kernel-something-LEAF) directories, each having a modules subdirectory ...
since the modules have to match to the kernel version. Or possibly the
modules should just be in with the kernel, all in a single tarball ... my
main concern here is whether files with a .o extension will reliably
download as a binary mime-type ... a .tgz that is modules only would be
smaller than the current big kernel tarballs, so be less of a burden to
download.
The general suggestion is that in setting up download directories, we think
ahead about Murphy's Law and try to minimize the likelihood that beginners
will download the wrong stuff.
