Hey everyone.

Just thought it was time to explain why I disappeared over the past few
months. It's been a rough time for me, but I seem to finally be getting
clear.

Here's the lowdown situation. Work was work, and that was that. Except
that a few more rules came along, and things started getting messy. I
started burning out under the workload, combined with the fact that there
was nothing in my job that allowed me to learn anymore without doing it in
my spare time, and that made it worse.

In the meantime, I picked up Asheron's Call. Can you say Addiction in a
Box? I KNEW you could! =)

I started living in my Windows partition, and trying to hide from work -
which was steadily going downhill - and unfortunately, my participation
here reminded me too much of work, so I stayed away. It's been a rough
three months or so.

Things changed a little over a week and a half ago. On Monday, August
20th, approximately a third of my department was laid off, and I was one
of them. My former employer is in the process of doing away with
Commercial Internet services to focus on Residential and Wholesale
operations. I was a casualty of sorts.

I really can't complain too much. Since then, I've started reading the
list again, but not too actively yet. Today, I actually went through
everything instead of skimming, and I'm back to playing with Linux again a
bit. I plan on becoming a little more active here again, as I'm realizing
how much I missed the interplay of ideas that comes from here, and a week
and a half off from the "realities" of Corporate Life can do wonderful
things to your sanity.

I'm not quite ready to pick up where I left off, and will probably be
lurking a bit, but I will be a round, and once I get a handle on it again,
I should be back to my old self.

In the meantime, anyone know of a place that needs a slightly bruised and
battered network dude for sysadmin or network/routing work in the New
England area? =)
