Some of us still use LRP 2.9.x, and are willing to support other users
through this list.

2.9.8 supports 2.0.x as well as 2.2.x kernels. If used as a firewall,
LRP 2.9.x does not provide adequate protection off the shelf, but
requires a custom ruleset or an external firewall package such as
echowall or seawall.

It contains a number of bugs (some well-known and long-standing) that
Dave has not fixed. If Butterfly ever emerges, it will probably bear
little resemblance to LRP 2.9.x (according to Dave's vague hints). I
suspect that 2.9.8 is the last of its kind and nears the end of its
useful life.
