I think we need to look at this from a different perspective than normal 
distributions. We have limited space available, so I think an embedded 
model is preferred.

We could create a bootable iso that would allow users to build custom 
target environments. Targets would include: floppy 1680, CD-ROM, IDE, DOC, 
SCSI, etc. A configuration system would start up on iso boot, ask for a 
target, then ask some questions about the hardware, and finally ask about 
intended purpose. After this is done a custom kernel will be compiled and 
placed on the selected target, with packages necessary to accomplish the 
intended purpose. After successful target creation, the user is asked if 
they would like to save this configuration for future use/cloning.

Did I go off the deep end?
