When I renewed comarre.com in August, I used a new registrar who charged me only $US 8.00 for a 1-year renewal (actually for the transfer, but it included a 1-year "extension" of the registration). I got a new domain from them at the same time, for $8/year. Of course, I do my own authoritative DNS, so this does not include any cost for their providing that service (they do offer it, but I don't recall the pricing).
