Hello Ettiene, The reason that the swapon/off applets were removed from busybox is that Bering(-uClibc) is designed as an embedded distro running from RAM, so no swapon/off is needed or used. The necessary scripts are also removed from etc.lrp. Adding them will add size, without being functional for the base image.
Bering-uClibc has indeed more space left on the floppy, but we like to save as much space as possible to have room for future enhancements or changes, like f.e. a kernel-2.6 upgrade. Or to give people the possibility to put as much packages/functionality as possible on just one floppy. So our goal will always be to make things as small as possible (that was the first reason to use uClibc instead of glibc) But why not use the "real" swapon/off binaries from RH? You use the glibc compatibility package, so that should work. If there is lot of demand we can always make a "swap.lrp" package with the programs compiled against uClibc (or you can provide a package yourself, hint ;) Regards, Eric Spakman Member of the Bering-uClibc team > Dear bering uclibc dev team ;-) > > swapon/off disappeard from busybox somewhere between dachstein and bering... > > I used to use an heavily modified bering release ( glibc2.2,...)
