I don't think it is used for anything anymore (I don't see a single 
buildtool.cfg file in our apps-tree that still uses "Type=list").

Files that should be backed up in the config should be specified as 
"local", so they end up in /var/lib/lrpkg/packagename.local (I think 
Eric documented that somewhere when he annouced the new config system - 
but I can't find it right now).

If I'm not mistaken "list" is deprecated with the new config system, the 
only reason it's still around is that I haven't removed it yet (or 
rather to be able to support older releases too ;-)).

Nope - all files in the package are automatically added to ".list" - the 
keyword in buildtool.cfg is to add things like directories, wildcards or 
things that don't exist in the package during packaging, but will later on.
