Did you try to enable Legacy USB support in the BIOS?
What other USB settings does your mainboard have?
When your system finishes POST, just before running syslinux,
does it display a summary of the IRQs being assigned? Do you
see any USB items? What's the list say?

As far as google is concerned, your problem doesn't
exist, if you search for

    usb_uhci init_module

What's the exact error message from dmesg and from syslog?
Good luck,
matt

Did see and follow that to start with. Which module to use for which
hardware is an issue. Which is why I tried all combinations. Will keep
trying though.

see the devel-list and the message subject
   Bering USB example and question
from February 1, 2003.

I would only guess that you might try 2.4.20 as the
mini-HOWTO does. If nothing else, it's along the
lines of fixing segfaults; though I realize you said
you got all the modules from the same tree.

Good luck,
matt

I'm using a Nagasaki MS2300LLL box - Openbrick. I'm trying to load up driver modules for a USB pen drive and am running into problems. Bering stable 1.0 2.4.18 kernel. Modules taken from same tree.

Insmod usbcore - goes thro' fine.
Insmod usb-uhci - gives an error. Module has loaded and is initialising forever. Cannot rmmod also. Error says init_module not supported.

I also tried insmod uhci, insmod usb-ohci and these two give segmentation faults. Does any one alse have any experience on this that I can benefit from?
