I'm partial to cards using the tulip driver.  If you can go a bit over your
$100 per card, you can get a quad-port D-Link DFE-570TX for $106.69 at
buy.com (maybe cheaper elsewhere).

These cards *ROCK*, and include a 21152 PCI-PCI bridge, along with 4 (yes,
FOUR!) 21143 10/100 NICs (all chips designed by DEC, although the recent
cards I recieved had chips actually made by Intel).  These work great with
linux, and only take up one PCI slot.  I've got several of these running in
LRP systems and have never had a single problem with them.  Plus, they're
really handy for making multi-port routers in slim 2U cases :-)

I'm amazed at the price of these...last time I bought any, they were about
twice as much.  Now, they're not much over the cost of four low-end NIC's,
and less than the cost of four "name-brand", "server-class" NIC's.
