Is the print server attatched to your internal lan (ie on the same
switch/hub as the machine you're running the configuration SW on)? If not,
you'll probably have to allow SNMP packets through the firewall (these are
blocked by default).

You should also try to configure the box with a proper static IP. The
192.0.0.x IP space used by default by HP printers is *NOT* assigned to HP
(it's actually IANA Reserved), should *NOT* normally be considered part of
your local lan, and if your internal systems are configured correctly,
they'll send packets to this IP range to the default gateway, which will
drop them rather than spewing the packets out onto the internet.

I've always manually configured my HP printers with an IP, although they can
support dhcp and/or bootp to get an IP as well. If this is not possible
without connecting remotely, you'll probably have to assign a 192.0.0.0/24
network IP to one of your internal systems, so it will be able to talk to
the JetDirect.

If you can't get the JetDirect configured w/o talking to it in the 192.0.0.0
IP space, I'd probably:

- take an internal system offline
- connect it to the JetDirect with a cross-over cable
- configure the internal system with the bogus 192.0.0.0 network
configuration
- configure the JetDirect with proper network settings
- connect the JetDirect to your internal LAN and test connectivity
- restore your modified internal system to normal operation
