I assume you just want to use the printer internally. Here is how I setup my
print-server (actually it has nothing to do with the LRP):

Connect it to the hub (e.g. 192.168.1.x), from another computer, open a
Command-Prompt box set the printer IP by typing (supply yours)

arp -s 192.168.1.207 00-60-b0-bb-d7-50
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
printer IP MAC address (found on the printer-server)

wait for a couple of seconds and you should be able to ping it. Now telnet
to it and set other things like Netmask, GW and so on. After that you can
run the adm software. Note that if you run XP, you do not need to run an adm
software. See HP Web site for more details.

Here is the listing when I telnet into my printer-server and type ? for
help:

Connected to hpIII (192.168.1.207).
Escape character is '^]'.

Subject: [Leaf-user] hp print server prob

Hi,

I have setup the lrp firewall and a couple of my machines using mostly
defaults in the network.conf file. I have tried several trial and error
methods to get our printer recognized in this setup. I have and HP laserjet
4mp with an external print server... JetDirect EX plus. This print server
(black box) needs to be configured using hp print server adm software from
one of the machines on the network. I cannot get either of our pcs to
locate the thing with ip address, hardware address or unspecified search.
The test button on the print server shows that it wants to be 192.0.0.200
with default gateway 192.0.0.194. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is the output of the various files and commands. Thanks for any help
you may provide!

John
